Great article and great photos! Love the one with you, Josh and the bison. I did not miss the detail of AL on your sleeve, either.

So happy for you to have had such a great family. We grew up in a nominal Christian home, but by the grace of God my sister and I were saved during high school by attending a bible study in a students home. Decades later I had the joy of leading my mother and father and stepmother to Christ. All grace!

Steve, I really enjoyed your article. Brings back so many good memories with my father hunting and fishing. I received my first gun on my 11th Christmas knowing I was going to be 12 when pheasant season opened. I have since had wonderful times with my sons on outings. Sometimes with both or just the one. Thank you

Beautiful. Tears in my eyes.

“The Old Man and the Sea” in my top ten favorites (as a Lit major, this says a lot). It is beyond sad, that some of the most gifted authors and poets never sought after or knew Christ.

As a boy Hemmingway was the first author in adult readings to intrigued me. Having grown up on the Atlantic ocean I felt a kindred spirit to Hemmingway. Over the years in retrospect I saw the old man and the boy in his writing for what they were. These revelations, over time, made me realize my life was much as "the old man's'" The joys of victories past and failure and accepting them ring true with me as they did with him. What really matters is holding to our future with the Father, all else is trivial.

Thank you for bringing these memories back to me.

As always your titles intrigue me, I too am a Hemingway fan but honestly have read more about him and his life than his actual writings.

Wonderful article and thanks for sharing. Safe travels.
